Usher says son 'completes' him, changes his perspective on life

As it does for most, fatherhood has transformed Usher. The 29-year-old R&B singer says in the cover story for the July issue of Vibe that since he and wife Tameka Foster welcomed son Usher Raymond V, 6-months, he sees the world in a new light.

My son completes me. He changes my perspective on what life is, and what matters.

Balancing career and family can be tough, as Usher can attest. He clarified that — contrary to rumors and earlier reports– he did not fire his mom Jonetta Patton from her position as manager. Instead, he says he paid his mom "the ultimate compliment – to retire her to be a full-time grandmother." For now, Usher says he has his sights set on being the best father he can be.

These are the days of my son’s life, these first three years. I want to be there. The challenge is having it all.
