Thanks to partnerships formed with 630 non-profits in the 50 states and Washington, D.C., Payless ShoeSource distributed 67,000 $15 gift certificates to families in need, helping them to buy kids’ shoes this winter. Many non-profits will even be helping families find transportation to their local Payless stores to purchase shoes.

Matthew E. Rubel of Payless ShoeSource’s parent company, Collective Brands, Inc., said, “A great pair of shoes can lift spirits, bolster self confidence and bring a huge smile to a child’s face. The recipient children can actually select their own shoes — which will be an even more inspiring experience for them. Together, with our partners, we are thrilled to deliver a true gift to so many families this holiday season.”

Originally posted on November 18th: Payless Shoe Source is aiming to provide $1 million in shoes to needy children this holiday season, one pair at a time. The brand — which boasts 3,600 stores nationwide — will distribute 65,000 $15 gift certificates redeemable for shoes and clothing in its shops.

The company plans to team up with a variety of 501(c)(3) organizations to distribute grants and make their goal a reality; if you work for such a non-profit, you can help! Visit by this Friday, November 21st, and complete a short application to see if your organization qualifies.
