6 Time-Saving Tips for Moms
WAKE UP & SKIM
Before the kids wake up, take a moment to read over the day's biggest headlines. Even better? Sign up for our easy-to-use service and have them delivered right to you. Seriously, it will be your new secret weapon.
GET APP HAPPY
Whether you're looking for the best and closest toy shop or a place to grab coffee while running errands, apps can provide you with the info you need in a snap. These days, you can even bank via your phone.
ORGANIZE YOUR INBOX
Instead of ignoring unread emails throughout the day, place them in folders based on topic (school news, kid's activities, medical info, etc.). That way, before bed, you can go through your messages leisurely without clogging up your inbox.
It may seem counterproductive, but distraction is fun. And we all do it. Carving out an hour or even 5 minutes to let yourself get lost in the dark hole of Internet shopping and gossip pages can actually help you stay on track with all your other tasks.
MAKE A LIST
At bedtime, write down your to-dos for the next day on an actual notepad (yes, the pen and paper kind!). It's a great way to clear your mind before going to sleep. Our one caveat: Writing checklists on fancy smartphones seems like a good idea, but they can easily be lost and forgotten. Plus, checking things off is cathartic – at least we think so.
How often do you really have time to really plan a meal? On Sundays, pick up all your essentials for the week. Then, you can prep and store the ingredients so when dinnertime rolls around, you've already conquered half the battle.
CARLY ZAKIN & DANIELLE WEISBERG
Before creating theSkimm (a daily newsletter that brings you the news you want in an easy-to-digest form), these two roommates worked as producers for NBC News. Now, they're making women's lives easier – and giving them more time to do the things they want – with their new service.
