It’s a boy for Carolina Hurricanes player Tim Conboy and his wife Sheena. The couple welcomed son Gunnar Price Conboy on Thursday, April 3rd at 8:20 p.m. — while his dad’s team was beating the New York Rangers 4-2! Gunnar weighed in at 9 lbs., 2 oz.

Tim, who plays defense for the Hurricanes, “was going to try and make it to the game,” he explains. “We got to the hospital at 6 a.m. They took a look and thought maybe 2 o’clock and I might get to the game.” However, Gunnar had different plans for dad! “I was able to be there with her and witness the birth. The boys got the two points. It was a happy night for everybody,” he laughs.

As for Gunnar’s name, Tim, 27, explains that both he and Sheena are of Irish descent and that Gunnar means “bold warrior.” “A little bit like I play, kind of,” jokes Tim.
