The Sandlot star Patrick Renna is a dad after wife Jasmin gave birth to their son Flynn Maxwell on Friday, April 14
From The Babe to the baby — Patrick Renna is a dad!
The former child star, most well-known for his hilarious role as Hamilton “Ham” Porter in the ’90s summer baseball classic The Sandlot, welcomed his first child with wife Jasmin, he announced on Instagram Monday. Flynn Maxwell Renna was born on Friday, April 14, at 7:54 p.m., weighing 8 lbs., 12 oz.
“Flynn was given my middle name, Maxwell,” Renna, 38, tells PEOPLE exclusively, sharing a photo of his new baby boy. “We were having such a hard time coming up with the first name, and then my mom suggested the Irish name Flynn, which means ‘son of a red-haired man.’ ”
He adds, “My wife and I loved it the minute we heard it. Best part is Flynn has my beautiful wife Jasmin’s dark hair. We couldn’t be happier.”

Wrote the actor next to a hospital photo of his new family of three, “As if I didn’t love his mother enough she has now revealed to me her true identity — Super Woman. She did such an incredible job.”
“I am in awe of her and honestly I am in awe of women in general. They don’t call it labor for nothing!” added Renna. “You give the gift of life and that is pure magic. Flynn is so great. So strong! I can’t get enough of this little guy. We are so happy and honored to bring him into the world.”
In January, the proud new dad shared a photo of Jasmin holding up a onesie that reads, “Smalls” — a clear nod to his Sandlot character’s famous line “You’re killin’ me, Smalls!” directed at newcomer Scotty Smalls.
“Thanks to @littlegabs @poochmcmoore @hanoverandmonster @jessiewillner for throwing the best baby shower ever. Pretty sure he’s coming home in this!!!!” Renna captioned the adorable snap.

Proving his funny bone has not wavered since childhood, the star posted an outdoor photo of himself and his wife in November — the latter holding her baby bump under a fitted white garment, while Renna holds his own belly.
“Thankful for my food bump, but really thankful for her baby bump! #babyrenna2017,” he wrote.
Aside from 1993’s The Sandlot, Renna starred in ’90s comedy classics such as Son in Law and The Big Green, as well as on series like The X-Files and Boston Legal. More recently, he guest-starred on Bones in 2014 and a January 2017 episode of Hell’s Kitchen, also appearing in the dark comedies Fear, Inc. and Bad Roomies.
