When Love and Theft‘s Stephen Barker Liles and Jenna Michelle Kennedy marry next year, a special addition to the wedding party might steal the spotlight from the bride and groom.

The couple are expecting their first baby on Dec. 3, they tell PEOPLE exclusively.

“It’s perfect timing,” says an over-the-moon Liles, 29. “December is our freest month of the year so if all goes according to plan, I’ll be home with Jenna and the baby.”

Liles’ bandmate Eric Gunderson and wife Emily took the leap into parenthood first, welcoming Camden William on March 10, two months earlier than his expected arrival in May.

“That was a surprise for everyone and definitely taught us to be prepared for anything!” explains Liles.

The couple were engaged on May 28 when Liles took a knee on the beach in Fort Myers, Fla.; they plan to wed in June 2014. “Right now we’re more focused on nursery colors than wedding colors,” admits Kennedy, 26, with a laugh.

Love and Theft are finishing out the summer performing at fairs and festivals as their newest single, “If You Ever Get Lonely” climbs the country charts. The video for the song debuted this week at number 20 on Great American Country.
