When Oprah made the statement/teaser on her show last month that "Stedman and I have a daughter," she was talking about their cocker spaniel Sophie. But now, according to Star, Oprah wants to adopt a child, possibly, a little girl from South Africa.

In 2003 Oprah told Larry King that adoption wasn’t for her and that she wanted to adopt whole villages and be a voice for AIDS-afflicted orphans in South Africa. Apparently, she had reconsidered her stance and now wants to adopt a child, preferably one that is "potty-trained and walking," according to best friend Gayle King, which means a child who is at least 2 or 3. It appears that the motivation behind her desire to adopt, beyond being a mother, is to have someone carry on Oprah’s charitable work and according to an unnamed source, "make sure what she started gets finished."

This is all according to Star and unnamed sources. It is not confirmed by Oprah or her spokepeople.
