After not seeing each other for several weeks, Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman reunited Wednesday for a vacation in the South of France, and are said to be thinking about a future together with their baby.

“He is very pleased that her divorce is finalized, and he is excited about spending time with Lauren,” a source tells PEOPLE. “He wants to make sure that she and the baby are doing okay. He is getting more and more excited about the baby.”

Another source adds: “They are definitely an item. They are making plans together for the future for themselves and the baby.”

The X Factor judge, 53, is expecting his first child with the New York socialite, who was married to Andrew Silverman, a friend of Cowell’s. But now that their divorce is final, Cowell – who recently told the BBC, "I’m proud to be a dad" – is said to be excited to see what the future brings.

“Simon still has no plans to live with Lauren permanently, or to get married,” says a source. “But Simon is a softy at heart, and his feelings could definitely change. No one would have ever thought that he would be this excited about a surprise baby.”

The source adds: “Little baby Cowell seems to have really changed Simon already.”
