You’re invited to Shakira‘s baby shower — along with the rest of the world.
The singer and soccer star Gerard Piqué are hosting a “World Baby Shower” benefitting UNICEF, they announced Monday, also sharing sweet family snapshots putting Shakira’s growing baby bump on full display.
Shakira, 37, held a similar event while pregnant with son Milan, who turns 2 this week, and was able to fund nearly four tons of therapeutic good packets, more than 80,000 polio vaccines, almost 200,000 rehydrating salts and about 1,000 mosquito nets through fans’ donations, she explained on Facebook.
“Now that we are about to be parents for the second time, we want to take it one step further: by making baby showers with a philanthropic bent accessible to everyone,” she wrote Monday. “Thanks to social media, celebrities are not the only ones who are able to make a real change. Now you can contribute so that baby showers that give to other children become a new global trend.”
To contribute to the campaign, people can buy and send “gifts” including midwifery kits, measles and polio vaccines, blankets, baby scales, soccer balls and storybooks.
The former Voice coach is expecting another boy, she told Hola! magazine in September.
