Seth Meyers and his wife have something extra special to be thankful for this year!
On Thanksgiving, the late night television host announced that he and Alexi Ashe are expecting their second child.
“A couple years ago on this show, we announced that we were having [now 20-month-old son] Ashe and so I wanna take this opportunity now … my wife and I are expecting a second baby,” Meyers, 43, said.
Meyers, 43, and Ashe, 33, welcomed their first child together — a son named Ashe Olson — in March 2016.
And to celebrate his happy news, Meyers invited his brother Josh and their parents Larry and Hillary Meyers as his guests for the Thanksgiving show.
Meyer’s mom revealed that when her son first told her about the news he was “sobbing.”
“I said, ‘What happened? Are you okay?’ And he said, ‘No, no it’s wonderful news, it’s wonderful news.’ I said, ‘What is it?’ And he said, ‘Well, we’re gonna have another baby,’ ” she began. “I said, ‘That’s fabulous — why are you crying?’ And he said, ‘Because for over a month I’ve had to pretend I don’t care what sex it is, but I do care, I want a little boy.’ “
“That’s true,” the Late Night With Seth Meyers host added. “I really wanted a brother for my son because I was so lucky to have one.”
“They’ve always been the best of friends, two years apart and that’s exactly what Ashe and Albert are gonna be, right?” his mom added, which seemed to suggest the couple is having a second son.
“Well now okay, we have not decided on a name, but dad, explain why you feel so strongly about Albert,” Meyers said.
“We’ve had five sheepdogs, and they’ve all been named Albert. And I really love the dog and I always wonder what it would sound like if it could talk,” his father said. “So I figure, if they name the kid Albert, eventually he’ll start to talk and I’ll say, ‘Ah, yeah that’s it.’ “
“And this is a little sad on Thanksgiving, but the kid’s gonna outlive the dog. And so it’s like Pinocchio — the dog becomes a real boy and everything works out,” Meyers’ dad continued.

Shortly after Ashe’s birth, Meyers opened up about what it was like to have a baby in the house on the Today show.
“I haven’t been great as far as being an assistant to my wife, in that the baby will wake up a couple times in the middle of the night and then I’ve been adding a third wake-up because I have night terrors about where the baby is,” Meyers said. “So I’ve been waking up, grabbing my wife’s face, saying, ‘I don’t know where the baby is.’ Then I just go back to sleep.”
Although he did add that he doesn’t mind changing diapers because “there’s a beginning, a middle, and an end.”
“When the baby is crying and you can’t communicate with it, then I’m frustrated. But at least with the diaper, I know that it started dirty and now it’s clean,” he added.
