Good Morning America's Sara Haines Welcomes Son Alec Richard

The weekend anchor and husband Max Schifrin named their baby boy Alec Richard after their dads

Saturday was a good morning for Sara Haines.

The Good Morning America weekend anchor and her husband Max Shifrin welcomed their first child — a son — in New York City and adorably named him after both of their fathers.

“We did it!!! On March 5th, 2016 we met our little guy Alec Richard Shifrin (named after our dads). He weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 oz.,” Haines, 38, wrote on Instagram alongside a sweet shot of the new parents and their newborn.

“We are excited, exhausted, and possibly still in shock, but soaking it all in. Thank you for all of the kind messages and encouraging words. It will take a village to raise this little man,” she added.

The news correspondent, who sometimes fills in for Candace Cameron Bure on The View, also shared the experience on Periscope, streaming live moments before and after the delivery.

“This is little man,” Haines said in the live video after giving birth, as Shifrin can be heard in the background saying, “I’m still learning how to talk like a dad!”

Haines’ parents were also in the video, as well as a sweet congratulatory cake from the hospital.

Haines and Shifrin got married in November 2014 and announced they were expecting a child last September.
