People think Ryan Phillippe‘s 17-year-old daughter is his sister — and she hates it.

During a Wednesday appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, the 42-year-old actor revealed that his boyish looks aren’t always good news for his 17-year-old daughter, Ava.

“My daughter gets embarrassed sometimes by the fact that I do look so young and I get mistaken for her brother sometimes,” he told the host. “Which repulses her! Like, absolutely repulses her that anyone could mistake me for her brother.”

It seems Phillippe’s young look has long plagued Ava, whose mom is his ex-wife, Reese Witherspoon. Last March, Phillippe revealed his daughter’s disdain for being called his sister.

“People have thought I’m her brother, and she’s freaked out by that,” he told Variety then, adding that Ava “hates” it.

Along with Ava, Phillippe is also dad to Deacon (whose mother is also Witherspoon), 13, and 5-year-old daughter Kai.

Phillippe also revealed that he’s been caring for children since he was young when his mother ran a daycare in their home.

“I grew up raising kids. I grew up working in the daycare,” he said. “I would teach the kids to swim. I would do magic shows for them.”

Phillippe’s new show Shooter premieres Tuesday at 10 p.m. on USA.
