On Wednesday, it was confirmed that longtime couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are expecting their first child together. Not much more about the superstar baby is known, but that hasn’t stopped the Web from going wild with conjecture. Ellen DeGeneres was one of the first celebrities to Tweet out a congratulations to the parents-to-be. The sunny host had nothing but nice things to say about Gosling’s future gosling.

Others weren’t so exuberant. For Gosling‘s legion of female fans, Mendes‘s pregnancy announcement serves as a sign that the Notebook actor is officially off the market. Ladies logged on to comedically express their sadness over Gosling’s news (and to contemplate just how stunning this offspring will be).
