Roger Federer Discovers the Biggest Perk of Winning

Spending years atop the ATP World Tour is about to pay off in spades for tennis star Roger Federer. Currently expecting his first child with wife Mirka Vavrinec, the 27-year-old former World No. 1 says that his earnings will come in handy once baby-on-the-way arrives this summer. “We have the financial background,” he explains. “Traveling — we can make it easy. Hotels — we can make it easy.”

From the sound of things, there will be plenty of both. While Mirka plans to be a full-time mom, she won’t be of the stay-at-home variety. Reveals Roger,

“I just think she’ll drop all the stuff she’s been doing so far and just become a mother, what she’s always wanted to be. She told me she still wants to travel as much as possible. We’ll see how that turns out. We don’t know yet, but I’m sure we’ll find good solutions.”

As for Roger, he envisions a seamless transition to fatherhood and doesn’t foresee the baby impacting his career. “I’ll still make decisions that are best for my game,” he says, adding:

“I have had a team in the past, there’s just an added a member. It’s going to be all right.”
