Another Boy! See the Explosive Moment Rodney Atkins Learns He's Expecting a Third Son
Baby on the way will make three boys total for country crooner Rodney Atkins, who's also dad to sons Ryder Falcon, 15 months, and Elijah, 17
Rodney Atkins is feeling blue — in a good way!
The country singer, 50, and his wife, Rose Falcon Atkins, are expecting their second baby boy together and Atkins’ third son total, his rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. The couple’s little guy will join their son Ryder Falcon, 15 months, and the “Take a Back Road” crooner’s 17-year-old son Elijah from a previous marriage.
In a clip chronicling the big reveal, Atkins hits a baseball that explodes into a cloud of blue after first thinking the video being filmed is solely for their partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank.
Rose (who was already in the know!) can’t contain her laughter once her husband whacks the ball, as it takes him a little while to realize he just revealed the sex of his child on camera.
“We did the ‘sneak peek’ gender test when Rose was pregnant with Ryder, and Eli and I got to surprise her … so this time it was her turn. And ‘boy’ she really got me good,” Atkins tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Atkins revealed he was going to become a dad for the third time on Valentine’s Day last month in a heartfelt lyric video for “My Life,” the second single from his forthcoming album Caught Up in the Country.
Beginning near the 3:10 mark, a framed picture of Ryder and Elijah could be seen, with the younger brother holding up an ultrasound photo in the snap.
“Thank you to everyone for your kind words about our growing family!” Atkins captioned the same image on his Instagram account. “Made releasing this new song even more special.”

The musical couple (who wed in November 2013) celebrated Ryder’s birthday this past December by giving the newly crowned (literally) 1-year-old his very own cake to smash — and he more than delivered.
“December 14th is by far my favorite day of the year. Happy 1st Birthday little man. #sweetbabyry #1stbirthday,” Rose wrote on Instagram, sharing a cute photograph of a smiling Ryder in a pair of “Happy Birthday” novelty glasses.
