“It’s great, it’s amazing,” the Veep star told PEOPLE of life with son Conrad while attending the premiere of Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
“All of it’s unexpected. We expected him, obviously. But every little surprise blows your mind.”
Scott adds, “He’ll open his eyes a certain way or make a face, and you go, ‘He looks like this relative from this angle and this relative from that angle.’ Every day is constant entertainment.”
And much like other proud papas, the actor already has high hopes for his son. “I think he’s funny,” he says of his 3-week-old’s budding personality.
“I hope he’s funny. If he’s like me, he’s going to be a wise ass until his parents have had enough of it.”
Although Scott, 37, says his parents were “wonderful” — despite being “a little more on the stricter side” — the actor admits his own parenting approach will likely be the polar opposite.
“I think the pendulum’s going to swing far the other way and he’ll probably get away with murder,” he jokes.
But not being a big music fan is out of the question: Scott is already taking steps to ensure Conrad learns all the classics.
“I bought a separate iPod and put it in his room and loaded it with all my favorite stuff. Since it’s the early stages, I’m easing him in with some Ryan Adams,” he shares. “So there’s some moody stuff going on. It’s on constantly.”
While he’s loving life with his newborn son, Scott seems to have lucked out with his sleeping schedule.
“We get six or seven hours a night, so I can’t complain,” he says.
