The Private Practice star and her husband, musician Rob Giles, welcomed their first child, daughter Eliza, on Friday, July 6 in Los Angeles, Scorsone tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The actress, 30, delivered her baby at home with the assistance of midwives.

“We couldn’t be more in love with her and are overflowing with gratitude for this beautiful miracle,” the couple tell PEOPLE.

Scorsone, who announced she was pregnant in February, plays Dr. Amelia Shepherd on the ABC medical drama, which will kick off its sixth season this fall.
