Every year Robert Sabuda releases a fabulous new pop-up book. If you haven’t seen one, pick up Peter Pan, A Classic Collectible Pop-Up ($30) and have a look. These are jaw-dropping, intricately detailed pop-ups and each book has dozens of them hidden among mini-books and secret doors. When I saw Sabuda interviewed he said that getting them to fold back in is at least as complicated as the actual popping. The book features beautiful scenes of the lagoon and the children’s homes in hollow trees and the finale’s a fantastic version of Hook’s pirate ship, complete with rigging. This isn’t for the little guys, though. It’s pretty fragile and it’s the whole Peter Pan book so the text is lengthy. If someone on your list is already a fan, consider the special Limited Edition version for $250.
