In Lifetime’s Rita Rocks, Nicole Sullivan plays an overstretched working mom in a garage band, and future episodes promise even more challenges, for Sullivan – on the show and in real life – is pregnant.

The actress, 38, and husband Jason Packham are expecting their second child, joining son Dashel, who was born in 2007.

“Jason and I are beyond thrilled to share our amazing news with everyone,” Sullivan tells PEOPLE. “I am so thankful that the wonderful team at Lifetime is embracing this, and will be including my pregnancy into the Rita Rocks storyline.”

She adds: “Dash is thrilled to have a partner in crime, Jason is excited about doubling his chances to have a child in the NBA, and I am enjoying all the eating that comes along with being pregnant.”

Writers for Rita Rocks will have plenty of opportunities to include the pregnancy. Lifetime announced Monday the show was picked up for a second season. – Mike Fleeman
