Celebrity Parents Nicole Kidman 'Desperately' Wanted Another Child "Anyone that's been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying and struggling with fertility," the Rabbit Hole actress, 43, tells Australia's 60 Minutes. By Staff Author Updated on December 1, 2020 07:39 PM Share Tweet Pin Email There are some things that come easily for Nicole Kidman — for instance her ability to tap into a character when the cameras are rolling. But when it comes to motherhood, the Oscar winner — and current best actress nominee — says there is something she has always struggled with. The mother of four, who just welcomed baby Faith Margaret on Dec. 28 via a gestational carrier, says she has “had a roller coaster ride with fertility.” “Anyone that’s been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying and struggling with fertility,” the Rabbit Hole actress, 43, tells Australia’s 60 Minutes in an interview that aired Sunday night. “Fertility is such a big thing, and it’s not something I’ve ever run away from talking about.” It’s a struggle that dates back to her marriage with Tom Cruise — whom she divorced in 2001 after adopting kids Isabella, 18, and Connor, 16. In 2007, the actress revealed she had a miscarriage before they split. After giving birth to daughter Sunday Rose, now 2½, her first child with husband Keith Urban, Kidman says the couple used a gestational carrier because of her fertility struggles. “The love I felt … she was the most wonderful woman to do this for us. We were in a place of desperately wanting another child,” she says. “This opportunity arose for us, and I couldn’t get pregnant. We wanted another baby. (crying) I get emotional talking about it because I’m so grateful to her.” Now as the family settles down in their homes in Nashville and Los Angeles, Kidman says she enjoys time with all of her kids equally. “Children are children — you’ll die for your children,” she says. “And when you feel that as a parent — that’s the unconditional love.” — Alison Schwartz Related Articles 41 Celebrities Who Have Shared Their Miscarriage Stories, in the Hopes of Helping Others Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Relationship Timeline Celebrities Who Have Shared Their Abortion Stories to Help Women Feel Less Alone Couple Who Went Viral for Traditional Indian Wedding Reveal They're Expecting Their First Baby Luke Evans Taps Nicole Kidman for 'Say Something' Cover: 'She Loved Every Minute of It' 'The View' Host Ana Navarro Reveals Why She Never Had Kids Despite Trying IVF: 'It Was Too Late' Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Mark 16th Anniversary with Wedding Throwback: 'Like It Was Yesterday' Keith Urban Takes Break Amid Tour to Visit Nashville Children's Hospital with Nicole Kidman WWE's Carmella Shares Experience with Ectopic Pregnancy a Month After Suffering Miscarriage David Nail Hopes to Have a Fourth Child with Wife Catherine: 'We Would Like One More' Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's Honest Quotes on Fertility, Pregnancy and Parenthood Nicole Kidman Signs 1-Year Deal to Return as AMC Theatres Spokesperson After 'Iconic' Ad Goes Viral Keith Urban Says His 'Life Is Very Different' After Marrying Nicole Kidman and Becoming a Dad Alison Sudol Reveals She Suffered Miscarriage: 'Most Devastating, Raw, Unavoidable Kind of Grief' Nicole Kidman Says She Regrets Not Having 10 Kids: 'I Wasn't Given That Choice' John Legend Says Miles and Luna Are 'Excited' for a Potential Sibling: 'They Know We Are Trying' Newsletter Sign Up By clicking “Accept All Cookies”, you agree to the storing of cookies on your device to enhance site navigation, analyze site usage, and assist in our marketing efforts.
