Michelle Williams talks nursing, names, nannies and even a little Katie Holmes

Actress Michelle Williams, fresh off Golden Globe nominations for both herself and her fiance Heath Ledger for their film Brokeback Mountain, recently spoke with USA Today and the Boston Herald about the film, Heath, and their 7 week old daughter Matilda. Of course, CBB is interested in the Matilda bits!

On her quick slimdown to her prebaby weight, Michelle shrugs and says, "It’s just breastfeeding." (Other stars also advocate for nursing as a great calorie burner – Denise Richards, Britney Spears, Heidi Klum, Debra Messing, and even our own Danielle have all credited nursing with their post-baby slim down.)

Michelle also offers a different explanation than Heath did about choosing the name of their daughter, saying, “I came up with it on the subway one day. It just fell from the sky and into my head. And I love, love the Roald Dahl book ‘Matilda.’ I didn’t think about it at the time, but then afterwards, I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s the girl I want: reads lots of books and makes things move with her eyes.’ That’ll be my daughter, for sure.”

Michelle reveals that she and Heath do not use nannies, relying instead on family members to watch her when they must attend promotion for their movie. She says, "We really wanted to do everything ourselves, especially for this immediate time together…[life has become] a cycle of eating, washing, sleeping, cleaning. Now, for fun, I nap…I love being a young parent. It’s me, the baby and the breast pump."

Michelle bristles at questions being asked about former Dawson’s Creek costar and fellow mom (to be) Katie Holmes, saying that, "That’s the million-dollar question…Everybody wants to ask it. I feel like I’m turning into a party trick. When I do reflect on [my time at the Creek], it’s fondly…It’s just not often." Instead, Michelle prefers to focus on her new role as Matilda’s mom.
