Michael Bublé: 'It's Like an Academy Award' When Your Kid Is Potty Trained
The singer happily announced to an audience at an event that his 2-year-old son went "caca" by himself for the first time that day
Christmas may still be around the corner, but Michael Bublé‘s son, Noah, has already given him a great gift.
“Yesterday was a huge day,” Bublé, 40, tells PEOPLE of his 2-year-old son’s latest (and greatest, in his opinion) milestone.
“[Noah] made his first caca in the toilet. I know it sounds crazy to say that, but if it’s your kid, it’s like an Academy Award.”
In fact, the moment was so notable that Bublé made a proud potty PSA during his event at the Natural History Museum that night — after all, it was a night to go down in history.
“I went and I told the audience my big news,” jokes Bublé, who will also be entertaining a crowd during his Christmas in Hollywood special airing Dec. 10 on NBC at 8 P.M. ET/PT.

And ’tis the season because Noah is all about ringing in the holiday cheer.
“All morning, [my little boy] was singing ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town,’ ” says Bublé, who is expecting a second son with his wife, Luisana Lopilato. “That’s the soundtrack of our holiday and our life.”
He continues, “He fills in the words right now, but basically he’s got ‘pout,’ ‘better not cry,’ ‘pout why,’ and then his way of saying Santa Claus sounds like ‘kekaus,’ but he loves it, so music is a big part of it.”
The more, the merrier. The singer and his Argentinean actress wife are heavily anticipating the birth of their baby boy, and Bublé says, “there’s no way to prepare.”
“We didn’t know what we were doing the first time and we’re having a great time and we just wanna keep doing it,” he says.
However, preparing Noah for a baby brother may be a bit different.
“We just talk to him a lot about it [and] he sort of gets it,” says Bublé. “We bought him a little baby doll so that he would understand that he’s gonna have to help take care of his bother. That’s ‘Noah’s baby,’ and he grabbed it by its feet and smashed it and poked its eyes, so we’re not sure about that.”
But, hey, boys will be boys.
“He’s a boy!” jokes Bublé. “He wants to play soccer and hockey and he wants to sing with Papa — that’s what he wants.”
