Constantly photographed out and about with their 9-month-old son Levi, Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves always seem unfazed by the pursuing paparazzi, often offering a small smile or a quick wave. In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest, the 39-year-old actor reveals that he refuses to stop living his life as a result of his celebrity status. “You can either stay inside and stay away from them … or you can get out, live your life [knowing] sometimes you’re going to get documented,” he says.
Make no mistake, however — the photographers have been forewarned by the protective papa!
“I just say, ‘Guys, law says you can … take pictures [and] I’m not changing the law right now, but do not make any lewd comments to my lady or get up in my child’s face to scare him at all because that’s crossing the line.’ So far, they’ve been respectful of that. [Levi] doesn’t know what the heck is going on and doesn’t know why these flashing lights are in [his] face, and as long as they’re considerate with Camila, we’ll deal with it.”
That said, Matthew gushes to PARADE that his son is quite the happy baby boy; Elated with fatherhood, he can’t help but “get a kick out of making [Levi] laugh,” a game that has become frequent for the father-son duo. “You get more foolish really quickly and you’ll do anything to get a smile from him,” Matthew explains.
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is now in theaters.
