Wearing a prosthetic belly all day would probably make anyone think about getting pregnant — and Mandy Moore, who plays a mom-to-be expecting triplets on NBC’s This is Us, is no exception.

“There is something fundamentally biological about [becoming a mother],” Moore tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Doing the show and holding the babies, I feel it on my insides.”

Continues the actress and singer, 32, “It definitely made my ovaries start kicking!”

After a rocky 2015, Moore is certainly embracing the concept of a fresh start.

“I’m starting with a clean slate,” Moore, who is dating musician Taylor Goldsmith, says of recently moving out of the home she lived in for 14 years.

“I really am starting the next chapter,” she adds.

And babies are definitely on the agenda.

“It’s about that time in my life,” she adds. “I’m definitely ready.”

This is Us, which also stars Milo Ventimiglia, premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
