Eric Gunderson has had his heart stolen — a few months early.

The Love and Theft musician, 28, and wife Emily welcomed their first child, son Camden William Gunderson, on Sunday, March 10 in Nashville, Tenn., his rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

The couple “are thrilled to announce the birth of their handsome new addition,” the rep tells PEOPLE.

“He arrived earlier than his expected May due date and will be spending some time in the hospital, but mother, father and baby are all doing well.”

Gunderson and his 26-year-old wife — who wed in April 2010 — announced the pregnancy in November and the sex of the baby the following month.

“Eric and Emily are moved by the tremendous outpouring of warm wishes from their fans, family and country radio,” the rep adds. “They look forward to sharing more updates soon.”

The musician and his bandmate Stephen Barker Liles are known for their hits “Angel Eyes” and “Runnin’ Out of Air.” They’ll join Tim McGraw on the road for his “Two Lanes of Freedom” tour in May.
