Kelly Slater is about to make a big splash in the teen market.
The 11-time world surfer champion is teaming up with PBteen to dive into the world of home wear with his own line of eco-friendly furniture and bedroom basics.
Kelly Slater for PBTeen — which features everything from sturdy desks and sleek lamps to cozy rugs and comfy bedding — is crafted from sustainable materials, recycled fabrics and 100 percent organic cotton.
“Global conservation is a focal point of the capsule collection and it falls right in line with the change and direction I’m working towards, on a professional and personal basis,” Slater, 42, says.
He adds, “In collaborating with PBteen, we are creating a subtle and natural feel with this collection — something that has an authentic appeal for teens and their parents alike.”
And we completely agree: The entire collection channels Slater’s laid-back, beachy vibe and mixes it up with pops of bold colors and patterns that will kick any tween (or adults?!) sleep space up a notch.
Although Slater admits that PBteen is not typically known for its surf-inspired gear, he is excited to bring a little nautical touch to a bigger audience.
“As a mother with two teenaged kids who are avid surfers, I have seen the rise of the surf lifestyle up close and feel this is not just a trend, but a movement that is here to stay,” Pottery Barn president, Sandra Stangl, says.
We’re already riding this redecorating wave and pulling out our surf — er, vision! — boards. Luckily, we’ll have plenty of time to plan: Slater’s new line will launch in stores and on PBteen.com in early April.
