River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, published by HarperCollins, will be available on Oct. 4, but can be pre-ordered online now
American Idol champ, Grammy winner, Billboard chart-topper, and now children’s author – what can’t Kelly Clarkson do?
“I’m officially a children’s book author,” the 33-year-old wrote on Twitter. “River Rose and the Magical Lullaby comes out this October!”
In a sweet clip shared by the star, she explained the backstory of her foray into children’s lit. “It’s kind of a cool thing to be on a plane with my daughter, we were going on trips to the U.K. and Asia and Australia, all these amazing places that she was too little to remember,” Clarkson said with the 19-month-old perched in her lap.
“Basically I started writing down these little fun stories — of like when we went to Australia and she got to hang out with some kangaroos.”
Clarkson said that eventually, the “little stories” morphed into a book for each place they visited.
“I guess my hope is for little kids to read River Rose and the Magical Lullaby and be inspired by it, and know they can achieve anything,” she said, “and still dream big and make big things happen.”
After the promo, Clarkson joked around about her baby girl’s adorable personality, telling the camera “Ya’ll, she is out of hand.”
“I can’t even get her to work, I’m pulling this train all by myself,” she continued. “She’s like sleeping on the job, she’s eating all the time — she’s always hungry.”
“What’s magical, fun and an escape for everyone?” the first video baited on Friday.
In a third Twitter clip, River smiled while playing with makeup on a vanity. “We couldn’t afford a @SuperBowl commercial, but here’s #Clue3,” Clarkson wrote of her little “diva,” before sharing a photo of herself and the cutie.
The picture book will feature an original lullaby written and performed by Clarkson, according to her website.
In the story, River Rose is so excited for her first trip to the zoo that she can’t fall asleep. Luckily, her mother’s lullaby sends her on a dreamy adventure through the menagerie.
River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, published by HarperCollins, will be available on Oct. 4, 2016, but can be pre-ordered online now.
