Since welcoming her second son in 2011, Kate Hudson has found herself stepping into a few hairy sibling squabbles between her two boys.

“I’m in the phase of my life right now where I hear ‘Mom’ all the time. I love it, but you start tuning out 100 ‘Moms’ a day — [you learn to listen] for the right, ‘Mom,’ ” the Glee actress, 34, said during a recent appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.

“So I’ll hear, ‘Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom!’ And I’ll turn, ‘Yeah, honey?’ And Bing will just have Ryder by the hair and Ryder will be looking at me going, ‘I just, I don’t know what to do in this situation.’ “

Noting that her 22-month-old son Bing is named for both her and fiancé Matthew Bellamy‘s families, Hudson jokes the moniker is more than appropriate for her “fireball” boy.

“By the way, now that he came out, [his name] is [for bada-bing, bada-boom]. That is Bing,” she says.

Fortunately big brother Ryder, 9, has plenty of patience to handle Bing’s powerful personality. “[Ryder’s] also lovely and funny and not at all presumptuous. He’s a really good person. I’m happy about that,” Hudson adds of her son with Chris Robinson.

Hudson comes from a famous family that is filled with busy schedules, but each year the entire clan — including brother Oliver, who’s currently expecting a daughter with wife Erinn — come together for an annual vacation.

“There’s that thing with families. I just turned 34 and yet, you go into the family dynamic and you’re just … [my] parents have too much control and power over my life, my therapist is on speed dial,” Hudson says.

But, at the end of the day, no one knows how to have a good time like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell! “There’s nobody I would rather be with and spend time with,” Hudson says. “My parents know how to party — they’re a blast!”
