Jessica Simpson Throws Her Son Ace Knute a Dinosaur-Themed 3rd Birthday Party

"Ace turns 3 and I feel prehistoric!" the mother of two wrote

Jessica Simpson knows how to host a roaring good party.

The proud mom celebrated her son Ace Knute turning 3 Thursday with a dinosaur-themed birthday party. Simpson, 35, and husband Eric Johnson organized a fun kids bash complete with tons of balloons, jungle foliage and a volcano-shaped cake to go with the Jurassic-esque motif.

Also at the party was the couple’s elder child, 4-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew. The family of four took an adorable photo together which Simpson captioned, “Happy Birthday dinosaur! You complete me #3 #aceknute.” As seen in the photo, the fashion mogul opted for a chic costume outfit sporting a midriff-baring banana leaf print crop top and matching bottoms.

“Ace turns 3 and I feel prehistoric! #dinoparty #aceknute,” Simpson jokingly captioned another snapshot from the party.

Though it was her little brother’s big day recently, Maxwell usually makes sure everyone knows who the oldest sibling in the house is. “She definitely lets her brother know that she’s the oldest and that she is in charge,” Simpson previously told PEOPLE. “Ace is finally starting to stand up for himself.”

While Simpson wears many hats as a businesswoman and mother, she’s also getting back to her music. The star has been recording new music with Linda Perry in the studio as documented on Instagram. Simpson last released Happy Christmas, her seventh studio album and second Christmas album, back in 2010.
