A source close to the family tells PEOPLE pregnant Jessica Simpson's baby girl on the way has a moniker that's a nod to her mom's side of the family

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are about to add a little Birdie to their nest!

A source close to the family reveals to PEOPLE that the spouses’ daughter on the way will indeed be named Birdie — a moniker that sparked interest after Simpson’s baby shower last weekend that featured a neon sign reading “Birdie’s Nest” and multiple photos with the same phrase in their captions.

“Birdie is the baby’s name. It was a great day. Jessica is feeling very loved and she is ready for [Birdie] to come,” the insider shares. “She felt very loved, surrounded by her closest friends and her mom and her sister.”

The “Birdie” theme was present throughout the day‘s festivities, including at the event’s whimsical table settings. “A little Birdie told me,” the menu began, before encouraging all the mom-to-be’s guests to “stuff your beaks.”

“The shower was a bird’s nest theme to celebrate Birdie,” the source adds, explaining that “Birdie is a family name” on the singer’s side.

The 38-year-old singer’s daughter on the way will be her third child with Johnson, 39, and will join the couple’s son Ace Knute, 5½, and daughter Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 6½.

In one image from her shower, Simpson — who wore a white lace dress with a green robe — posed alongside daughter Maxi, who smiled while placing a hand on her mother’s baby bump.

The singer also shared another photo with her mother Tina, her younger sister Ashlee Simpson Ross and Simpson Ross’ daughter Jagger Snow, 3.

With her due date growing closer, the expectant mother has recently had some trouble with extreme foot swelling. One day after poking fun at her problem, the singer tried out a technique to help alleviate her condition.

Sharing a photo of her swollen foot on Friday, Simpson wrote that she was experimenting with cupping therapy, an ancient Chinese massage therapy technique thought to increase blood circulation.

Shortly after posting an image of her foot with three suction-cup-like tools covering it, she proudly showed off the favorable results.

“SKANKLES aka Skinny Ankles 😜,” she captioned an image of her noticeably less swollen foot.
