Hilary Duff is enjoying a "date night" with a special man in her life — her son Luca Cruz!

Posting to Instagram on Friday, the 33-year-old actress shared a series of photos from time spent with her son, Luca, 8, that showed the mother-son duo enjoying time together at a local pottery studio.

"Date night with my dude," Duff captioned her post. "I think Luca was blind folded for half of it 😂."

In the first series of shots, Duff and Luca can be seen carefully perfecting their pottery pieces while donning masks inside the studio amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In another image, Luca stands beside one of the studio's instructors, who gently guides him as he crafts his clay creation.

Fans of the Younger star wrote in the comment section of her post, where one user referred to Duff as the "coolest mom," while another said, "Reminds me of when you did pottery with your mom on Lizzie McGuire."

Earlier this year, Duff talked to PEOPLE about Luca and his schooling situation amid the outbreak.

Luca, who is Duff's first child from her previous relationship with her ex-husband, Mike Comrie, said she and her family — which also includes husband Matthew Koma and their daughter Banks Violet, 23 months — made decisions for Luca's entry into third grade one step at a time.

"Luca goes to private school, and we're just waiting to see what happens," Duff told PEOPLE at the time. "For his emotional well-being, I think it would be great if he could go back to school, but also it depends on what that looks like."

"If it's just strictly learning and no social interaction … I guess I would let him make the choice," she added. "If he was going and it was super sterile and it wasn't benefiting him [in a social way], I would be up for remote learning again."

Elsewhere, Duff also praised Luca for being "great about" wearing a face covering "from the beginning." She told PEOPLE that her son "doesn't leave the house without remembering to get his mask out for the day."

"I have a basket by the front door and he's just in the habit of grabbing one and going out, or even if he's playing in the front yard — we've had a few social-distanced [hangouts] with kids from his school," Duff said. "He has his mask looped around his ears and under his chin. It's so cute. I'm like, 'Aw, buddy.'"
