Heath Ledger talks about life with baby

Heath Ledger, 26, has spoken about his life since the birth of his baby daughter Matilda Rose. Fiancee Michelle Williams, 25, gave birth to the couple’s first child late last month. Heath said that he has "never felt so useless" whilst watching the birth – "Witnessing this innate, primal strength and determination that’s injected into women when they have to push out a baby is just the most spectacular thing … Boy, do I love them both – and [Matilda’s] just a beautiful kid."

Heath also discussed his and Michelle’s baby name choice, saying, "It just seemed right … There’s something kind of ancient about the name. It’s got such a weight and beauty to it as well and, I don’t know, it just rolled off the tongue."

Since Matilda’s birth Heath has been busy with home making duties for his new family, "My life right now is … I wouldn’t say reduced to food … but my duties in life are that I wake up, cook breakfast, clean the dishes, prepare lunch, clean those dishes, go to the market, get fresh produce, cook dinner, clean those dishes and then sleep if I can … I love it … I actually adore it."

The family are planning a white Christmas for their baby’s first, before returning to Sydney early next year, "Next year my hope is to spend as much time in Australia as possible … I want to introduce Matilda to the ocean," said Heath. However, there’s no rush for marriage – for now, the couple is happy just being engaged and enjoying their baby girl. Says Heath, "I really don’t feel like I need a piece of paper to validate the love I have for [Michelle]…She’s my soulmate and we couldn’t love each other any more."
