Girls all around for Dallas Mavericks

by auditioning contributor Angela:

Dallas Mavericks’ guard Marquis Daniels, 25, and his fiancée, Shana, welcomed a baby daughter on Wednesday, June 21 at 3:30 a.m. Syriah Lakí Daniels weighed in at 7 pounds, 1 ounce. She arrived a couple weeks early as Shana was not due
to give birth until July 4 but began having contractions on Friday, June 16. "Being a good dad," is what first-time father Daniels said he’s most nervous about. "It’s
easier said than done."

In other baby news, forward Josh Powell, 23, and fiancée, Emily, are awaiting the arrival of their daughter, Patience Analise, who is expected to make her appearance on Friday, July 7. This will be Josh’s second child. Unfortunately, his first child was born prematurely and passed away when he was two days old. Josh never had the opportunity to see his son, as he was born overseas."Everyone [teammates] just says how wonderful the experience is, how much their kids bring joy in their lives," Josh said. "When they’re coming home after practice or after games, the kids know them as daddy and not as basketball players. It helps with the good and the bad days."

Teammate Adrian Griffin, a father of four, states that Marquis and Josh haven’t gone to their teammates yet for advice but he looks for that to change. "I don’t think it’s going to hit them until they’re actually holding the baby and the baby starts to grow a little bit."
