Thrown by her longtime friend and entertaining expert Francesco Bilotto at his New York City apartment, more than 30 guests attended Saturday’s soirée for the ABC meteorologist, who is expecting a son with husband Ben Aaron in December.
“It was intimate, informal and everything I could have asked for. I felt so loved and supported,” Zee tells PEOPLE exclusively.
And since Zee wasn’t the only mother-to-be at the party, Bilotto created a custom “mom-tail” with pear juice and ginger ale, which he served in champagne flutes with a mini glass pacifier ornament as a special touch.
“It’s definitely not your traditional sit-down baby shower luncheon,” Bilotto tells PEOPLE. “It’s more cocktail party style.”
Guests played games like guess the weight of the pumpkin — which was wrapped in a baby blanket — and dined on light fare including turkey and roast beef sandwiches, mini bow-tie pasta salad and layers of veggie pizza.
And for dessert, party goers noshed on a tasty spread complete with cupcakes, mini pies, pumpkin cakes, Godiva pumpkin truffles and Cheryl’s cookies.
A custom “baby fresh” fragrance created by Antica Farmacista filled the air for the special occasion, and the décor included soft touches of floral and little pumpkins placed throughout the home.
As a surprise, Bilotto had guests write notes and well wishes for Zee as they left the party with “little pumpkin” goodie bags filled to the brim with pumpkin-shaped soaps by Beauty Kitchen by Heather Marianna, Baron Fig journals and Godiva chocolates.
