Ginger Zee knows what she wants — and when she’s pregnant, it’s cheese.

In a recent sit-down with PEOPLE’s Celeb Parents Get Real, the Good Morning America chief meteorologist and second-time mom-to-be recalled an emotional incident she experienced when she was pregnant with her son Adrian Benjamin, who turns 2 this month.

“I was making chicken and I had mozzarella cheese and I guess I had [cross-contaminated them] and my husband said, ‘We have to throw away the cheese,’ ” said Zee, 36.

“I couldn’t handle it. I was so irrational, ’cause that was my cheese and it was gonna make my dinner,” she admits. “That’s when you know you’re pregnant — when you cry over cheese.”

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant (she competed on season 22 alongside partner Val Chmerkovskiy) tells PEOPLE her most embarrassing parenting moment happened “the second” she and her son once boarded a flight out of Nashville, Tennessee, where her husband Ben Aaron hosts Pickler & Ben with Kellie Pickler.

“[Adrian] had a cold, and he has a pretty bad gag reflex … he threw up, I mean, [Exorcist]-style, all over my entire body,” Zee says. “So for the following two and a half hours, I was the puke lady in the front.”

“And he was fine — he wasn’t really sick like that, it was just [his gag reflex],” she continues, joking, “And it was M&Ms, of all different colors, so it was really pretty and smelled really good.”

Luckily for Zee — whose second child on the way is another son — the parenting moment she would relive if she could is one she’s going to have the chance to do again very soon.

“When I had a c-section and they brought [Adrian] over and they put him up to my face … that feeling haunts me in the best way. I want that feeling all the time,” she reveals.

“What happens inside you, you actually transform and your heart bursts,” continues the proud mom. “I thought I was gonna die, in the best way … that much love comes out of you. So I would re-do and relive that moment over and over if I could.”
