Future Opens Up About Children in New Doc: 'I Want to Have a Relationship with My Kids'
Fans get an intimate look into Future's relationship with his kids in the new documentary The WIZRD
“The connection and the bond that I have with my kids, man it’s a blessing,” the 35-year-old said in the film, released in tandem with the album of the same name. “And I thank [God] every day for it… they love me so much and I love them back.”
In one heartwarming scene, Future’s 4-year-old son Future Zahir, whom he shares with former fiancé Ciara, can be seen pretending to rap and dance with his dad.
During a Q&A following a New York City prescreening earlier this month, Future admitted that he struggled with including his children in the film — or even doing the project in the first place.
“I didn’t want to do it, I tried to cancel this documentary,” he revealed. “I’m a personal dude.”
Elsewhere in The WIZRD, Future speaks about the extremely private nature of his personal life with his children.
“I just want to be able to have a relationship with my kids,” he says. “They go beyond social media. I’m changing baby Future’s diaper… I’m listening to my little girl read a book, because that’s all she wants, or she wants to play the piano… It’s my personal life, I’m not going to argue with you on comments — I’ve got kids that I have to see and be there for.”
Ciara and Russell Wilson
Unfortunately, the relationship between the exes is less harmonious and less private. Last Friday, Future — who got engaged to Ciara in October 2013, but called it quits three months the birth of Future Jr. — made waves by apparently dissing Ciara’s husband, NFL player Russell Wilson.

“He do exactly what she tell him to do. He not being a man in that position,” Future said during an interview with Beats 1 Radio. “You not tellin’ her, ‘Bro, chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband! You better not even bring Future’s name up!’”
Ciara appeared to respond to the insult with a pointed Instagram post. The 33-year-old R&B singer shared a photo of herself wearing an oversized pink and black flannel with black stiletto boots, writing in the caption, “Rise Above.”
