Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber on Their Kids' Fuller House Cameos: It Was 'Very Full Circle'
Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber talk to PEOPLE about what it's like being real-life parents off of the Fuller House set
The ladies of Fuller House are passing the torch on to their own kids.
“Our daughters were on an episode this season,” Jodie Sweetin told PEOPLE of herself and Andrea Barber alongside Barber and their friend and costar Candace Cameron Bure — famous for their respective roles as Stephanie Tanner, Kimmy Gibbler and D.J. Tanner-Fuller on the hit Netflix spin-off.
“So that was really fun and very full circle for us,” the actress, 34, explains of her daughter Zoie, 8½, and Barber’s daughter Felicity, 9, making cameo appearances on season 2 of their show, which premiered Dec. 9.
“To have our daughters be on a show that we were on when we were their age,” continues Sweetin, who is also mom to 6-year-old Beatrix, “it was this really crazy moment where I remember thinking, ‘I never in a million years would’ve thought that someday I would have kids [who] would be on the next chapter of this series.’ ”

Chimes in Barber, 40, who also has a 12-year-old son named Tate, “It gave me a whole lot more respect for my mom, and what she did for me, and how much of her life she dedicated to me by helping me be a child actor. ‘Cause it’s a lot of work on the moms, as well.”
“And I think also it made me appreciate what it is that we did at such an early age,” Sweetin says. “We were, like, little professionals, you know? What we did was pretty incredible for 10-year-olds and 5-year-olds to be doing.”
The ladies say that the advice they’d give to pregnant women involved two big things: Enjoy the time and do what works for your family.
“Do what’s right for you. Don’t listen to everyone else’s advice,” says body-positive mom of three Cameron Bure, 40.

“[Pregnancy] goes by quicker than you think,” Sweetin explains. “By the time you get to like eight and a half months you’re kinda over it, but then there are times when you wish you could go back.”
Barber‘s advice is pretty straightforward.
“Sleep now,” she says while Sweetin and Cameron Bure laugh knowingly. “As much as you can.”
“And one more thing: You forget the pain. You may want another,” says Cameron Bure, whose sons are Maksim, 14, and Lev, 16, and whose 18-year-old daughter Natasha is already a singer, model, actress and designer.
Even outside their draw toward the entertainment industry, the three women share that their little apples don’t fall too far from their respective trees.
“My kids have mastered the art of sarcasm,” Sweetin says. “They have really sarcastic, witty little comebacks.”
She adds, “And in the moment I’m like, ‘You don’t get to talk that way to Mommy,’ but on the inside I’m like, ‘Fantastic use of the art of sarcasm.’ It’s really great. I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, you’re mine. But don’t use it at me.’ ”
Barber shares that Felicity is into singing in the way her mom was at her age — explained as the actress and runner recalls an at-home scene not unlike something her Fuller House character Kimmy Gibbler might be caught in.
“My daughter loves to lock herself in the bathroom and there’s this app called Musical.ly, where you’re lip-syncing these music videos,” she says. “So she’ll look at herself in the mirror and use a hairbrush as a microphone … and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I used to do that when I was a little kid, to New Kids on the Block!”
“In the same vein, my daughter, if you just go to her Instagram, her videos are hysterical,” Cameron Bure says of Natasha. “She just posted one the other day of when she was like 9 years old and it was The Natasha Bure Show! ”
“Bea pretends that she has her own YouTube channel,” Sweetin says. “I’ll hear her in there with her phone and she’s like, ‘And now today, on Beatrix’s YouTube channel!’ I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ “
