The Evenflo Aura Select Stroller ($90) is a great deal — a full-featured stroller for under $100.
It has everything you need including a giant basket, a reclining seat, cup holders, and even a secret compartment that dispenses baby wipes!
Assembly and Fold
I assembled the stroller in about five minutes. It was very easy and the instructions are clear. To fold it, pull a release on the handle and it collapses easily. It automatically locks to hold it tightly closed, though it is a bit bulky when folded.
Seat and Recline
The seat has a squishy cushion that removes easily for machine-washing. It is easy to recline with a nylon strap-and-buckle system behind the seat, but it does not go to 100% flat or totally vertical. I don’t see this as a big problem, as the tiniest newborn could happily ride in the compatible car seat and my toddler didn’t mind the slight recline in the vertical position. A 5-point harness is great for safety but didn’t come with pads for the shoulder straps. The stroller handles are rubberized for a good grip. A patented one-hand steering handle is useful if you need one hand to hold a dog’s leash or a toddler’s hand.
Ride
Hard, plastic wheels never give a fabulous ride, but this ride is nothing to complain about. Suspension helps considerably and the ride down the sidewalks was smooth with a touch of wheel noise, but that’s to be expected. Individual back brakes are effective but I always prefer a brake bar that locks both sides simultaneously.
Sun Shade
The sun shade is quite substantial and it has a large with a window with a cover that velcros close. When the car seat is on the stroller, the two sun shades meet for 100% coverage.
Storage
The Aura has a huge, accessible basket with a divider for keeping smaller items from getting buried by the diaper bag. It has a toddler tray with two cup holders plus two parent cup holders with rubber inserts to accommodate various sizes of containers. There is also a box that dispenses wipes. It’s smart to have wipes handy at all times, so this is a great feature.
Pros: Great price for a full-featured stroller. One-handed push, lots of storage and substantial sun shade.
Cons: The hard, plastic wheels don’t give a fabulous ride and it’s bulky when folded.
The Verdict: The Evenflo Aura stroller is a very functional stroller with tons of storage and it’s a great deal!
