Eva Mendes has been relishing her time at home with 4-month-old daughter Esmeralda Amada. But Wednesday night, the actress stepped back into the spotlight in support of the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer event, presented by the Entertainment Industry Foundation and chaired by CAA agent Jim Toth and his wife, Reese Witherspoon (who was in New Orleans filming and unable to attend).

Looking stunning in a black long-sleeved Preen cocktail dress and white heels, her hair pulled back into a high ponytail, the actress, 40, was all smiles, mingling with fellow mothers Camila McConaughey (who attended with husband Matthew McConaughey), Susan Downey (there with husband Robert Downey Jr.) and the evening’s host, James Corden, there with his wife, Julia, who also welcomed a daughter just three months ago.

Mendes was introduced by a jovial Corden, who joked about his crush on the new mom but was quickly disappointed by reality: “She has a child now with her boyfriend,” he said, referring to Ryan Gosling.

Onstage, the actress gave a heartfelt introduction for Katie Couric, one of Stand Up to Cancer‘s founders. “Tonight I’m here with my family and my brother Carlos, who had [cancer] treatment today,” Mendes announced.

Getting caught up on the teleprompter for a short moment, she quipped, “I just had a baby… I haven’t slept!”

John Legend later performed along with special guest, Selma‘s Common.

The event, which raised over $16 million in one evening, was held at The Book Bindery in Culver City and was produced by Yifat Oren & Associates and Don Mischer Productions in collaboration with the Entertainment Industry Foundation.
