Eric Dane will get a real-life taste of the demands of his Grey’s Anatomy character when, in about three weeks, he s in the delivery room for the birth of his first daughter.

“I’ll be in the room. I’m going to stay close to my wife and make sure that she is all right,” Dane tells Ellen DeGeneres on her show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show set to air Monday. “I’m really excited. I’m also very interested.”

The Valentine’s Day star and wife Rebecca Gayheart have a name in mind, he says, but “Rebecca wants to wait until she sees her before we give her the name.”

When DeGeneres asks whether the couple was continuing the celebrity trend of “weird names,” Dane replies, “we went straight down the middle with this one.”

Two names Dane’s baby definitely will not have? Jane Dane or Great Dane – both jokingly suggested by DeGeneres.
