Elisabetta Canalis Still Takes Advanced Pilates Classes - at 7 Months Pregnant!
"I would love to crave spinach, but it's not going to happen!" the actress and model jokes to PEOPLE
Just because she’s more than 7 months pregnant doesn’t mean Elisabetta Canalis is slowing down her fitness routine — at least not by much!
The Italian actress and model, 36, works out four or five days a week doing a combination of Pilates, hiking and swimming.
“What I like is that Pilates really defines the muscles,” Canalis tells PEOPLE. “I don’t do pregnancy classes. I take regular advanced classes!”
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant — who married surgeon Brian Perri last year — says she’s motivated to stay active so she can indulge her pregnancy cravings for sweets and carbs.
“I love sugar, and I know that if I don’t work out, I can’t eat that,” says Canalis. “Bread pudding has become an obsession. Potatoes any way you can cook them. And carbs! I would love to crave spinach, but it’s not going to happen.”
While she tries not to overdo it, Canalis gives into her food wants from time to time.
“You have an appetite for two, so I said, ‘It’s fine, I’m going to eat more because I have to,’ ” she shares. “Of course I don’t want to become a trash can because it’s just not good — for you, for your body or for your health. You have to find a balance.”
And this mama-to-be seems to be doing that by staying as fit as possible.
“Two months after I give birth, I already have to be on set!” she says. “I have a fashion campaign in Italy, so I have a photo shoot very soon. If I work a little bit now, it will be easier after [to get back in shape].”
Newly married and with a baby on the way, Canalis wishes nothing but the best for her famous ex, George Clooney, whom she dated from 2009 to 2011.
“We are both happily married, and I think we both wish the best for each other,” she says. “I wish the best for him, I’m sure he wishes the best for me.”
