Princess Diana‘s legacy lives on – thanks to her brother, Earl Spencer.

Spencer, 47, and his wife Countess Spencer, 39, have welcomed their first child together, a healthy 8 lb., 14 oz. baby girl whom they have named Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer – after his beloved late sister.

“She’s adorable,” the proud (seven-time) father told London’s Daily Mail.

Although the couple hadn’t settled on a name before the birth, Spencer had the newborn’s late aunt Diana in mind. “I very much wanted her commemorated in the naming of our daughter,” he said.

Coincidentally, the little bundle of joy – born last Monday at Althorp, the Spencer family home – is the first Spencer baby to be born at the ancestral estate since 1793. It is also where the Princess of Wales was laid to rest in 1997.

Earl Spencer’s other six children are from his previous two marriages, while the Countess Spencer, the former Karen Gordon, has two daughters from her marriage to American film and TV producer Mark Gordon, known for such blockbusters as Speed and Criminal Minds.
