Dierks Bentley‘s fans showed up for a performance, but the dad-to-be ended up sharing much more than his stellar voice.

While on the road for his current tour, Bentley met concert-goers at the door — via a video message — to get their best guesses on the sex and name of his third child with wife Cassidy, due this fall.

“You guys mean everything to us and that’s why we’re always trying to give you guys the fan club exclusive,” Bentley, 37, says in the clip. “And for today for the Last Call Ball 9 we thought it would be kind of funny to give you the scoop on whether or not I’m having a boy or girl.”

In addition to guesses on the sex of the baby, Bentley also received several suggestions as to what the couple should name their new addition. Among them? Dierks-Anne for a girl and Deacon Cash for a boy, which both received a “pretty good” from the doting dad.

Following a final poll of the audience — the crowd cheered loudly for a boy — Bentley finally let the cat out of the bag.

“We’re having a boy! Just don’t tell anybody, alright?” he says, before the audience erupts in applause.
