Daughters Help Russell Simmons Accept Honor
Hip-hop music producer and businessman Russell Simmons accepts the NAACP’s prestigious Vanguard trophy — with a little help from daughters Ming Lee, 9, and Aoki Lee, 6 ½! — at the NAACP Image Awards on Thursday evening.
Russell, 51, was honored for helping to increase understanding of racial and social issues. As the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, he was cited for using the power of hip-hop culture to inspire American youth.
Ming and Aoki’s mom is Russell’s ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons, who is currently expecting her third child.
