Danish princess' name revealed
Upon her christening this morning, the name of Crown Prince Frederick and Crown Princess Mary‘s daughter, born April 21st, was revealed. The 10-week-old princess is named Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe. Isabella’s names are all drawn from family history — the Spanish version of Mary’s middle name, Elizabeth, her maternal grandmother, paternal grandmother, and paternal great-grandmother.
The family posed for photos at the ceremony (dad cried) — but Isabella was sleeping! Christian, 20 months, looked over the press and crowd gathered for the ceremony.
The godparents of the baby were Princess Mathilde of Belgium (alsogodmother to Princess Alexia of the Netherlands), Princess Alexia ofGreece, Dr Nadine Johnston, Christian Buchwald, Peter Heering (husbandof Mary’s lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering) and Marie Louise Skeel. Also in attendance were Princes Haakon and Mette-Marit of Norway andPrincess Victoria of Sweden, all of them godparents to Christian.Mary’s siblings, who reside in Australia, couldn’t attend the event, butMary’s father and step-mother were present.
