On his new drama My Own Worst Enemy, actor Christian Slater plays a complex character who is one part family man, one part undercover operative. In real life, though, Christian, 39, says nothing trumps fatherhood. "Having kids, being a dad, getting to have some great adventures with my kids is the best," he said to Matt Lauer recently on Today. "It’s the best possible remedy for anything."

Dad to son Jaden Christopher, 9, and daughter Eliana Sophia, 7, with ex-wife Ryan Haddon,Christian shared that being the offspring of famous parents can haveperks for his kids — for instance, Jaden got to attend and announce aLos Angeles Dodgers game on his birthday.

Usually seen on the big screen in movies, Christian is excited to make the switch to television. Revealing that his children had the chance to visit the set recently, the actor said they enjoyed seeing their father act in action-adventure scenarios. The biggest benefit, though? Being able to watch him on the TV from home, together. "I think they’ll enjoy that aspect of this job," he said.

My Own Worst Enemy airs Mondays at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC.
