With all of the celebrity pregnancies and births, we tend to over look the loss of miscarriage. The blog Babyfruit Miscarriage and Pregnancy has compiled a list of celebrity miscarriages and stillbirths. According to HopeExchange.com, every year in the United States there are approximately 2 million women who experience pregnancy loss.

Just a few of the celebs who have experienced pregnancy loss include Courteney Cox Arquette, Tori Amos, Amy Brenneman, Audrey Hepburn, Pamela Anderson, Yoko Ono, Jane Pratt, Brooke Shields and Emma Thompson. Sadly, it is not a short list.

As Allison Rosen, a therapist who treats people dealing with infertility, quoted in this New York Times article said, "People don’t understand the deep connection to the unborn child, and they don’t understand it’s the death of what feels, to the potential parents, like a real person. The grief is so silent. We don’t have rituals mourning a miscarriage. So the pain is isolating."

Happily, after 4 miscarriages, Aliza Sherman of Babyfruit is expecting her first child any second now. She’s been in labor for a bit but was sent home from the hospital.

FYI, here are some things to say when a friend tells you of their pregnancy loss, "I’m so sorry for your loss," "I’m here for you," and "What can I do to help?" Here are some things NOT to say.
