Despite widespread belief that David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son was named for the spot where he was conceived, Brooklyn actually stemmed from Victoria's love of the name Brooke, which she altered when she learned she was having a boy. "I'd always liked it as a place – it's very multicultural, very grounded. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's boys each have names inspired by a special location, with 3-year-old Zuma being named for the California beach "really close to where we live," Stefani said in a 2009 interview. As for Kingston, the couple knew they would be naming their nearly 6-year-old after the Jamaican capital ever since No Doubt visited the country to record Rock Steady. "[When] it ended up being a boy, we named him Kingston, and he wore the Rasta hat home from the hospital."

"It's kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is," he told Ryan Seacrest in 2008. "People are stoked or pissed or whatever. And you're like, You know what: I don't think anyone really has the real story."

For Marcia Cross, deciding on a name for one of her twin daughters was out of her hands. "A long time ago, I had this kind of spiritual experience, that I will have this child and her name will be Savannah," she told PEOPLE in 2007. "Then when [husband Tom Mahoney] and I didn't even know we were having girls, he wrote me an e-mail and said, 'I just heard a name I like: Savannah.' I had the complete chills."
