Cat Deeley‘s son Milo may not even be a year old yet, but the new mom is already thinking about what she can do to help spark her little boy’s creativity.

“I think it’s really important to encourage a child’s imagination,” Deeley, who will lend her voice to an upcoming episode of Disney Junior’s Kate & Mim-Mim called Kate in Oz, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“When kids are little, it’s important to give them a sense of confidence, and to give them [the idea that] they can be anything that they want to be and there are no ties.”

Adds the So You Think You Can Dance host, 40, “I thoroughly intend to [encourage] my son [to use his imagination]. I’m just going to use [voice acting] as an excuse for me to be ridiculous and silly and out there. I intend to embarrass him for the rest of my days.”

In Kate in Oz, Deeley voices a witch named Violet, who loves all things purple and wants to steal 5-year-old Kate’s glittery purple slippers while the latter visits Oz with her favorite toy: a purple stuffed bunny named Mim-Mim.

“None of the adult world really matters — or it shouldn’t, when you’re 5 or 6 [years old],” says Deeley, who is married to Irish comedian Patrick Kielty.

“All that comes soon enough,” she adds. “So I think it’s very important for them to have a big imagination and read lots of books, watch movies. I think it should all be encouraged. ”

Kate in Oz premieres Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. EST on Disney Junior.
