Caden Lane's Hobo Diaper Bag: Rocks and Rules for Stylish Moms on the Go

What with my often mismatched socks, mom hair in the hurry-out-the-door ponytail and various kinds of dried baby food on my sleeve, I need all the help I can get to look stylish and not lose any of my hard-won organization in the process. Hurray for Caden Lane’s Hobo Diaper Bag ($150)! The Hobo Bag is the newest addition to the fabulous Caden Lane family, famous for its cute and well-made baby accessories (I received several of the burp cloths as baby gifts and they’ve outlasted every other and continue to get compliments). This bag took me from play dates to restaurants and even fooled several people into thinking it was just a cool purse.

The rich chocolate brown exterior goes with everything and doesn’t show any spills or stains no matter where you set it down; the brassy blue trim and tiny bronze circle accents add a nice added touch that looks classy and modern. The interior has a really adorable blue polka dot print that is covered in plastic, making it waterproof (and juice-proof, milk-proof, strained peas-proof, you get the idea.) I especially love that the pockets inside are clear, making it easy to dive for the pacifier, snack container or wipes when you need them quickly and the spoon loops that keep spoons clean and in one place – no more dirty baby food spoons at the bottom of the bag. The changing pad matches the bag and has a handy Velcro fastener that keeps it folded when it’s being stored, and makes it an easy one-handed operation to open and spread out on a changing table while wrangling a squirming baby.

Another big plus for me is the nifty little key clasp that serves as a key chain that actually fastens into the interior of the bag. When you have a baby on your hip and are holding the hand of a toddler in a busy parking lot, there is no more fishing around for your car keys – just unsnap the key ring and you’re good to go. I also like the insulated bottle holder – not only is it cute, and made of the same material as the bag – but it keeps me from having to carry an extra insulated pack to keep bottles cool. And, it’s comfortable even when I fill it to the top of the zipper with books, jackets and all the things that I seem to have to pack around with the kids in a day around town.
